Chris Cortese is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with an extensive background of public service in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. State Department. After transitioning at 50 from the State Department, Chris realized his dream of creating an independent, fee-only financial life planning firm for those who serve our nation in the federal government and the military. As a Foreign Service Officer and diplomat, Chris served in Taipei, Chengdu, Beijing, Bogotá and Montevideo. As an Air Force and airline pilot, he flew more than 5,000 hours in a variety of aircraft such as the T-38, MH-53J, C-5, Boeing 727 and Boeing 737.
After living abroad for 12 years, Chris decided to retire early from the State Department in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a CFP® professional. Even with all of the exciting jobs in his career, Chris’ number one interest has always been personal finance and investing. Chris had wanted to become a CERTIFIED FINANICAL PLANNER™ many times in his life but the barrier was too high – selling annuities, or other financial products were not in the best interest of this clients. Knowing there was a more equitable way to provide financial services, Chris created Logbook in 2017. The mission: to give informed and ethical financial guidance to support those who serve our nation in the Federal Government and military.
